Earth Day Assembly

On Monday April 22, 2013 the grade 3 and grade 1 classes will be presenting an Earth Day Assembly. It will start at about 9:30 am and will last about 30 minutes. You are welcome to attend.

Math Test

We will be having a math test on Chapter 4 Multiplying and Dividing on Thursday March 27th, 2013. That way there will be no homework for Easter Weekend!! Please continue to practise times tables at home. We have reached 6x tables.

EQAO

Over the next few weeks we will be conducting practise EQAO testing. This gives your child an idea of what the test is like, test taking strategies, interpretation of vocabulary used on this test etc. This way your child will be very familiar and comfortable when they are faced with writing the real test.

Multiplication and Division

In math we are currently learning multiplication and division. Each week your child will be assigned a new number such as 3X and then 4X  tables to practise at home. You support is greatly appreciated.

Math Test

We will be having a Math Test on Thursday February 28th. It will cover Chapter 7, Motion Geometry.

Red and Pink Day

On Thursday February 14th, 2013 we will be having a quiet celebration in the afternoon. Your  child is welcome to bring a game to play. If you are sending treats please remember that we are a nut free classroom.We will make time to exchange valentines if your child wishes to do so.

Upcoming Events

On Thursday February 14th we wll be celebrating Red and Pink Day. We will exchange valentines and have a quiet class celebration. I will send a class list of names for the valentines. If you send treats please remember that we are a nut free classroom.

Report Cards

Report cards will be sent home on Monday February 5th. Please review the report card with your child. If you wish to come in to discuss your child's progress contact Mrs. Beneteau, our school secretary, and she will make an appointment for you.

Cold Weather Clothing

Please make sure your child comes to school with proper outdoor clothing. This includes snowpants, boots, hats, mitts scarves etc.  Unless it is extremely cold or wet everyone goes outside for recess. If your child is too ill to go outside please keep them at home. A pair of indoor shoes that can remain at school is essential. If your child is unable to tie laces independently please send velcro shoes.

Take Home Reading

Please return any Take Home Reading materials that you may still have at home.

Take Home Math

Today your child is bringing home the  first question in our Take-Home Math program. Solutions are due back each Monday. We will take up each question together in class. A rubric is located at the back of the book so you can see how questions are graded. This is an opportunity for you to see the expectations of the Grade 3 Math program and to give you child exposure to many different types of questions and math language. The questions are similar to those given on EQAO in May. Please support you child but do not do the question for them. Have them try to think it through. We are more interested in the thinking rather than the final answer.
